Summary:

Provides customized financial institution services to customers with specific or special banking needs

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Has knowledge of general banking functions with an emphasis on selling bank

  products, solving problems, and the maintenance of existing account relationships.

• Earns customers' long-term business by using a needs-based approach, and providing

  value-added financial insight in identifying customer needs.

• Product knowledge must be at a level that the PB can sell any service offered by the

  bank and support bank deposit, lending, trust and securities, and insurance business

  through referrals to appropriate department.

• Participates in all office marketing and sales projects, which include personal

  contacts, telephone sales, direct mailing and promotions.

• Develops and applies sales and service skills as a result of various training and

  continuing education programs provided by the branch management or marketing

  department.

• Attends appropriate community events representing company. (Chamber events, civic,

  and social events) to solicits new business and develop goodwill.

• Makes consistent cross selling efforts with customers in the office on a daily basis.

• Demonstrates personal commitment to excellence in sales and service to customers

  and other employees.

• Demonstrates customer service by managing difficult or emotional customer

  situations, responding promptly to customer needs, soliciting customer feedback for

  improvement and responding to requests for service and assistance.

• This position has no underwriting authority.

• Actively prospects, targets, qualifies, presents and closes sale.

• Follows up on referred leads from other departments and personnel.

• Interviews applicant to determine consumer/mortgage loan requirement and gather

  pertinent information for loan application.

• Requests applicant credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other

  information pertinent to loan applicant's evaluation.

• Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and asset evaluation to determine

  feasibility of granting loan or submits application for verification and recommendation.

• Resolves uncertainties relating to customer application information through inquires

  with applicant or creditors.

• Originates and prepares loans for consumer loan customers including preparing

  documentation for loan approval.

• Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to bank policy.

• Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.

• Assists walk-in customers with applications and loan servicing issues.

• Identifies and analyzes potential loan markets to develop prospects for consumer and

  mortgage loans.

• Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, and examines checks for

  endorsements.

• Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of customer identity, authorized

  signature and customer available balances.

• Enters customers' transactions into computer to record transactions, and issues

  computer generated receipts.

• Maintains and balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at end of shift and

  compares totaled amounts with data displayed on computer screen.

• May prepare loan docs for the loan and perform other related duties.

• Opens new deposit product accounts for customers.

• Answers customer questions and investigates and corrects errors, following customer

  and establishment records and rules.

• Completes sales transactions or refers customers to appropriate bank associates.

• Solicits, examines, evaluates, and recommends approval of customer applications for

  consumer loans and mortgage loans.

• Identifies customers' needs and presents products and services that meet those

  needs

• May assist with loan collections for CCD and mortgage accounts.

• Places holds on accounts for uncollected funds, when necessary.

• May be responsible for the vault where duties would include, ordering coin and

  currency from the Fed, selling and buying cash to and from the tellers, maintaining

  the vault cash in an orderly manner and balancing the vault cash.

• May order checks for customers.

• May assist bank customers in their checking, savings, and payment transactions.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Credit life, Accident and Health, and Disability insurance licenses.

• A valid driver's license.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to handle self in a professional manner under stressful circumstances with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.

 

Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

 

Reasoning Ability:Must have the ability to solve practical problems and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be prepared to perform significant portions of their work in a computer based work environment. They should have experience with:

• Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
