Assistant Branch Manager Department: South Minnesota 40 Description
Summary: Assists branch manager in meeting deposit, loan, fee income, and service quality goals for the branch by helping to manage sales and service and by leading by example. Responsible for keeping the daily branch office activities flowing smoothly at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Must have knowledge of other retail bank job responsibilities and be able to assist all employees and know the channels for obtaining additional assistance. • Assists in the management of the activities of the branch office ensuring the safety of all assets, implementation and compliance with company policies, and the supervision of staff. • Responsible for the development of business to meet sales and marketing goals. • Demonstrates personal commitment to excellence in sales and service to customers and other employees. • Actively supports branch personnel in their efforts to sell bank products and services to current, new, and potential customers. • Insures that all sales efforts and customer consultations are performed in a manner that focuses on building long term customer relationships. • Supports the bank deposit, lending, trust business through referrals to the appropriate department. • Ensures that all branch staff provides friendly and courteous service to customers. • Promotes business development by utilizing the following techniques: direct sales, telephone sales, and direct mail projects. • Insures the scheduling of personnel is adequate to cover branch needs. • Makes recommendations to branch manager of any changes and additions appropriate to the market area. • Assists in the collection of returned checks. • Provides guidance with regards to improving cross sales/referrals, opening new business and personal accounts, and appropriate account ownership designations. • Compiles and reports financial data as requested by management. • Resolves customer account problems. • Orders weekly cash supply and balances vault cash and coin. • Solicits new business and participates in community or other service programs to develop goodwill and identifies customers' needs and presents products and services that meet those needs. • Completes sales transactions or refers customers to appropriate bank associates and accomplishes these duties while following bank policies and procedures. • Makes consistent cross selling efforts with customers in the office on a daily basis. • Demonstrates customer service by managing difficult or emotional customer situations, responding promptly to customer needs, soliciting customer feedback for improvement and responding to requests for service and assistance. • Performs all CSR duties and responsibilities as needed. • Performs all Personal Banker duties and responsibilities as needed. • Manages office and supervises staff in absence of the Branch Manager. • Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Customer Service Representatives
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid drivers' license.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to handle self in a professional manner under stressful circumstances with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability: Must have the ability to solve practical problems and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be prepared to perform significant portions of their work in a computer based work environment. They should have experience with: • Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
