Summary: Responsible for ensuring that the credit department maintains sound internal controls and conforms to various compliance standards required by bank policies, procedures, laws and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Works closely with frontline managers and supervisors within the credit department to strengthen internal controls and systems.
  • Works closely with Meta internal audit and compliance staff to ensure proper controls are in place and functioning in accordance with company policies.
  • Represents the credit department in addressing specific weaknesses in departmental internal controls identified by internal or external parties.
  • Spearheads ongoing, periodic third party reviews and coordinates due diligence reviews of potential new business partners.
  • Conducts various quality assurance reviews and/or assembles and reports on quality reviews taking place within the department.
  • Monitors pronouncements and other announcements and financial disclosures made by key third parties.
  • Completes Performance Matrices for key third party service providers and partners gauging conformance to predetermined operational and financial benchmarks and contributes significantly to the establishment of those benchmarks.
  • Monitors conformance to standards set forth by the Sarbanes Oxley Act and represents the credit group in SOX-related projects or reporting needs.
  • Responds to internal audit and corporate compliance findings and is a key contributor for the credit department in responding to regulatory inquiries or examination findings.
  • Ensures employees within the credit department complete required training in a timely manner.
  • Represent the Company on standing and ad-hoc groups, project teams, and committees as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Credit.
  • Primary coordinator and drafter of credit department policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This job has no supervisory responsibilities.                    

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a college or university and 3 years experience in credit operations or 5  years equivalent experience.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability:  Must have the ability to solve practical problems and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be prepared to perform significant portions of their work in a computer based work environment.  They should have experience with:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
