Description
Summary: The Business Analyst's role is to elicit, analyze, specify, document, and validate the business needs of project stakeholders (internal and external) for Meta Payment Systems. This includes interviewing stakeholders and gathering and compiling user requirements to convey to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
The Business Analyst will also apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help support the project management lifecycle and the development process; and will ensure that project deliverables are met according to specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Functional Requirements, Use Cases, GUI, Screen and Interface designs and when needed assist in documenting test cases and plans.
- Lead requirements analysis and verification, ensuring that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, and unambiguous and that they conform to standards.
- Utilize your experience in using enterprise-wide requirements definition and management systems and methodologies required.
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of Project Managers
- Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This position may be asked to participate in the interview process for filling vacant Business Analyst position(s). This position may be asked to assist in training a new business analyst.
Education and/or Experience: Four-year business or computer science degree with at least four years experience in equivalent field, or at least eight years of experience in equivalent field required.

- Intermediate understanding of contemporary requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification, and management practices and the ability to apply them in practice
- Anintermediate understanding of how to practice requirements engineering according to several software development life cycles in a team environment
- Knowledge of product management concepts and how enterprise software products are positioned and developed
- Application domain knowledge is a plus, to have credibility with user representatives and be able to work effectively with them
- Modeling skills - flowchart through structured analysis models (data flow diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, etc) experience desirable.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group (executives, managers, and subject matter experts).
- Excellent meeting facilitation, interviewing, and negotiation skills required.
- Exceptional analytical skills needed to operate at various levels of abstraction (high-level to detail)
- Excellent interpersonal skills required to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders.

- Strong analytical skills are required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
- Strong ability to propose solutions to problems and consider timeliness, effectiveness, and practicality in addressing client needs

Consequence of Error:
- Errors in completion of position duties would result in:
- Incorrect or incomplete analysis of business process or system impacts caused by new business initiative.

- Poor or delayed business decisions.
- Failure to follow through on execution of plan.
- Errors in completion of position duties impact the entire company, both in hard and soft dollars. Inefficiencies in business and system processes cost, at the very least, lost productivity. At worst, incorrect recommendations may cause unnecessary capital outlays.
Interpersonal Relationships:
- This position has daily contact with company employees at all levels to gather, analyze, and document information and discuss and recommend alternative courses of action.
- This position must be competent to work/interact in groups of technical and business users and express ideas or issues in a positive and constructive manner.
- This position has routine contact with all levels of management to provide recommendations for changes to system business processes or corporate systems.
- This position may have limited contact with outside parties to discuss potential new or enhanced technologies that may become part of a recommended change to a business process or corporate system.

Reasoning Ability: Possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be prepared to perform significant portions of their work in a computer based work environment. They should have experience with:
- Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
